Job Overview:
XCAD Hospitality & Care Company is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Optometric Assistant to support our eye care team. The Optometric Assistant will assist optometrists in delivering high-quality vision care by performing pre-examination tests, managing patient records, and providing excellent customer service.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist patients with check-in and appointment scheduling.
- Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, lensometry, tonometry, and visual field screenings.
- Prepare patients for eye examinations and explain procedures clearly.
- Record patient information accurately in charts and electronic systems.
- Assist optometrists during examinations as needed.
- Educate patients on eye care, eyewear options, and proper contact lens usage.
- Support frame selection and fitting of eyeglasses.
- Handle patient inquiries, payments, and insurance processing.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
- Ensure compliance with healthcare, safety, and confidentiality standards.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Previous experience in an optometry clinic, healthcare, or customer service role (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to perform technical tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
- Basic knowledge of optometry equipment and procedures (asset, training provided).
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Computer proficiency, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Compassionate, patient-centered approach with professionalism.
Education & Certification:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in optometric assisting or medical office administration is an asset.
- CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).
- On-the-job training available.
