Job Overview:

XCAD Hospitality & Care Company is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Optometric Assistant to support our eye care team. The Optometric Assistant will assist optometrists in delivering high-quality vision care by performing pre-examination tests, managing patient records, and providing excellent customer service.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and assist patients with check-in and appointment scheduling.
  • Conduct preliminary tests such as visual acuity, lensometry, tonometry, and visual field screenings.
  • Prepare patients for eye examinations and explain procedures clearly.
  • Record patient information accurately in charts and electronic systems.
  • Assist optometrists during examinations as needed.
  • Educate patients on eye care, eyewear options, and proper contact lens usage.
  • Support frame selection and fitting of eyeglasses.
  • Handle patient inquiries, payments, and insurance processing.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of exam rooms and equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with healthcare, safety, and confidentiality standards.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Previous experience in an optometry clinic, healthcare, or customer service role (preferred).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform technical tasks with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of optometry equipment and procedures (asset, training provided).
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Computer proficiency, including electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach with professionalism.

Education & Certification:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary training in optometric assisting or medical office administration is an asset.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (preferred).
  • On-the-job training available.
